Yukio Mishima Prize and Shûgorô Yamamoto Prize Winners Chosen

The selection committee of the Shinchô Society for the Promotion of Literary Arts convened in Tokyo on May 15 and selected the winners for the twenty-first annual Yukio Mishima and Shûgorô Yamamoto Prizes. Shinya Tanka won the Mishima Prize for "Broken Chain," while the Yamamoto Prize went to Bin Konno for "Resolution: The Secret Investigation II" and Kôtarô Isaka for "Golden Slumber." All three novels are available through Shinchôsha Publishers.

Selection committee representatives Keiichirô Hirano from the Mishima Prize and Kiyoshi Shigematsu from the Yamamoto Prize announced the results and explained the details of the selection. At the press conference which followed, recipients of both awards took the stage to answer reporters' questions, although Isaka, who was on a family trip at the time, participated by telephone interview. "Golden Slumber" also received the Bookstore Grand Prix Prize recently.
