Monthly Reprintings: "365 Bedtime Stories" published by Asuka Shinsha
Reprintings of "365 Bedtime Stories" (Asuka Shinsha) are continuing nonstop. The book was reprinted monthly between November 2006 and June 2007, with these recent printings reaching 55,000 copies. The first printing of 5000 in November 2005 quickly sold out, due in large part to successful sales promotions by bookstores.
The book includes abridged versions of common anecdotes, nursery tales, and fairy tales and myths from around the world. Yuka Hasegawa of the Sales Department notes that the high demand for the book comes from "a predominately female clientele, including mothers who plan to read it out loud, and young women buying it as a gift." Sales are particularly high during the Christmas holidays and in the summer. Although not a new publication, the book seems to sell well when promoted as a special seasonal item."
