Rumiko Takahashi's Work Released Simultaneously in Japan and the U.S.
Shogakkan Publishing announced that Rumiko Takahashi's newest work, "Rin-ne," would begin serialization on April 22 with simultaneous distribution in Japan and the U.S. The editor of Shonen Sunday explained the purpose as follows: "Takahashi is an immensely popular author in North America as well. Rather than illegal distribution, we would like to see legitimate products, and now we are beginning to experiment toward this aim."
The first installment was posted April 22 on TheRumicWorld.com, free of charge, while serialization in Japan, in Shukan Shonen Sunday, started on the same day.
