"Techniques for Men on their Own"
In this era of long lifespans, men certainly face the risk of living single. Even if they are married, wives can die first or the marriage can end in divorce. In any event, the number of single men in their early forties is increasing rapidly. Sociologist Chizuko Ueno points out that if the current trend continues, the time is soon coming when one in three men will go through their lives unmarried. Her book, "The Course for Men on their Own," published by Houken last November, examines the actual state of single men and explains the importance of skills for the waning years of life.
Practical methods for managing the waning years of life are plainly and clearly laid out in "Techniques for Men on their Own" by nonfiction writer Mayumi Nakazawa, published this June by Houken. Following her bestseller, "Aged and On their Own," Nakazawa is also the author of "The Law for those on their Own," published by Houken, which thoroughly explains all necessary legal knowledge and techniques for singles. It has also received much acceptance by readers who find it a practical aid for single women.
"Techniques for Men on their Own," written as a follow up to Ueno's book, is full of detailed, practical survival techniques covering the fundamentals of independent living such as diet, physical and psychological health, finances in old age, final dwelling places, how to spend time, and nursing care questions. There is information on counseling and advising services, which should make it useful not only for men but for women as well.
