Gozo Shioda is the celebrated Aikido Master. In the aikido world he is second only to the original founder of aikido – Morihei Ueshiba – under whose tuition he learned his famous skills.
His legendary techniques still hold great appeal for all martial artists, even since his death in 1994. This DVD program, made by his major successors, Yasuhisa Shioda (Gozo Shioda's son), Tsuneo Ando and Susumu Chino, explains and demonstrates all the teachings, both physical and spiritual, about the famous Yoshinkan school which Gozo Shioda founded. Yoshinkan Aikido has become well-known throughout the world, and people of many nationalities are training in this method.

About the Author

GOZO SHIODA, born in Tokyo in 1915, became the most outstanding student of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of modern aikido. Holder of the ninth rank black belt, he founded the Yōshinkan school of aikido, of which he was chief instructor. He was also chief instructor for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, the Air Self Defense Force, Japanese National Railways, Sophia University, Meiji Gakuin University and Takushoku University. Well-known throughout the world, he is regarded as the ultimate master of aikido.
